Designing a Timber Frame Home in Louisiana

From the pine forests and rolling terrain of northern Louisiana to the bayous, wetlands, and waterfront communities farther south, the state offers a wide variety of settings for a home connected to its surroundings. Timber frame architecture complements these landscapes through exposed timbers, natural materials, expansive windows, and generous outdoor living spaces that bring craftsmanship and a strong sense of place into the home.

Woodhouse can customize an existing floor plan or create a fully original design around your property, lifestyle, architectural preferences, and long-term plans. Deep covered porches, shaded outdoor living areas, open gathering spaces, and energy-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) are particularly well suited to Louisiana living. In coastal and flood-prone areas, site-specific design and engineering should also account for high winds, heavy rainfall, humidity, flood exposure, and other local conditions.

Since 1979, Woodhouse has specialized in architectural design, engineering, and precision timber frame fabrication. We collaborate with your local builder and project team, providing the specialized timber frame expertise and home package components needed to bring your Louisiana home to life.
