Designing a Timber Frame Home in Montana

From the forested mountains and river valleys of western Montana to the foothills, open plains, and dramatic ranges farther east, the state offers some of the country’s most striking settings for a custom home. Timber frame architecture complements these landscapes through exposed timbers, natural materials, expansive windows, and substantial craftsmanship that creates a strong connection between the home and its surroundings.

Woodhouse can customize an existing floor plan or create a fully original design around your property, lifestyle, architectural preferences, and long-term plans. Covered porches, outdoor fireplaces, generous gathering spaces, and expansive glazing can help make the most of mountain and valley views, while energy-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) support year-round comfort. Site-specific design and engineering can also address Montana’s heavy snow, high winds, cold temperatures, elevation changes, and the demands of sloped mountain properties.

Since 1979, Woodhouse has specialized in architectural design, engineering, and precision timber frame fabrication. We collaborate with your local builder and project team, providing the specialized timber frame expertise and home package components needed to bring your Montana home to life.
