Designing a Timber Frame Home in North Dakota

From the rolling prairie and agricultural landscapes of eastern North Dakota to the Missouri River valley and rugged Badlands farther west, the state offers expansive settings shaped by open land and long views. Timber frame architecture complements these surroundings through exposed timbers, natural materials, expansive windows, and enduring craftsmanship that creates a warm connection between the home and the landscape.

Woodhouse can customize an existing floor plan or create a fully original design around your property, lifestyle, architectural preferences, and long-term plans. Covered porches, protected outdoor living areas, generous gathering spaces, and strategically placed windows can make the most of expansive views, while energy-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) help support year-round comfort. Site-specific design and engineering can also address North Dakota’s cold winters, significant snow, strong winds, and wide seasonal temperature swings.

Since 1979, Woodhouse has specialized in architectural design, engineering, and precision timber frame fabrication. We collaborate with your local builder and project team, providing the specialized timber frame expertise and home package components needed to bring your North Dakota home to life.
