Designing a Timber Frame Home in Rhode Island

From the shores of Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic coastline to the wooded hills and rural landscapes of western Rhode Island, the state offers distinctive settings for a custom home. Timber frame architecture complements these surroundings through exposed timbers, natural materials, expansive windows, and enduring craftsmanship that creates a strong connection between the home and its New England setting.

Woodhouse can customize an existing floor plan or create a fully original design around your property, lifestyle, architectural preferences, and long-term plans. Covered and screened porches, generous gathering spaces, fireplaces, and strong indoor-outdoor connections can make the most of coastal and wooded properties, while energy-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) support year-round comfort. Site-specific design and engineering can also address winter snow, coastal winds, humidity, salt-air exposure, and the particular demands of waterfront properties.

Since 1979, Woodhouse has specialized in architectural design, engineering, and precision timber frame fabrication. We collaborate with your local builder and project team, providing the specialized timber frame expertise and home package components needed to bring your Rhode Island home to life.
