Designing a Timber Frame Home in Texas

From the limestone hills and oak-covered landscapes of the Texas Hill Country to the pine forests of East Texas, broad ranchlands, and open western terrain, the state offers an enormous range of settings for a custom home. Timber frame architecture complements these environments through exposed timbers, natural materials, expansive windows, and enduring craftsmanship that creates a strong connection between the home and the surrounding land.

Woodhouse can customize an existing floor plan or create a fully original design around your property, lifestyle, architectural preferences, and long-term plans. Deep covered porches, shaded outdoor living spaces, generous gathering areas, and expansive glazing can help a home respond naturally to Texas living, while energy-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) support year-round comfort. Site-specific design and engineering can also address intense summer heat, strong winds, severe storms, humidity in eastern and coastal regions, and the varied conditions found across such a large state.

Since 1979, Woodhouse has specialized in architectural design, engineering, and precision timber frame fabrication. We collaborate with your local builder and project team, providing the specialized timber frame expertise and home package components needed to bring your Texas home to life.
