Designing a Timber Frame Home in Vermont

From the Green Mountains and heavily forested interior to the Lake Champlain Valley and rolling countryside, Vermont offers landscapes where architecture and the natural setting are closely connected. Timber frame architecture complements these surroundings through exposed timbers, natural materials, expansive windows, and enduring craftsmanship that feels equally at home on a mountain property, wooded retreat, or rural New England estate.

Woodhouse can customize an existing floor plan or create a fully original design around your property, lifestyle, architectural preferences, and long-term plans. Covered porches, fireplaces, generous gathering spaces, and expansive glazing can help make the most of mountain, woodland, and lake views, while energy-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) support year-round comfort. Site-specific design and engineering can also address Vermont’s cold winters, substantial snow loads, wind exposure, elevation changes, and the demands of sloped properties.

Since 1979, Woodhouse has specialized in architectural design, engineering, and precision timber frame fabrication. We collaborate with your local builder and project team, providing the specialized timber frame expertise and home package components needed to bring your Vermont home to life.
